The PKK, deemed a terrorist group by the European Union - to which Sweden belongs - and the United States as well as by Turkey, took up arms against the Turkish state in 1984.
Turkey and Greece have been seeking to mend fences in recent months while Sweden has been trying to address Ankara’s security concerns over the activities of alleged Kurdish terrorists and other enemies of the Turkish state on Swedish soil.
Turkish state television has also scrapped the broadcast of concerts and other festivities because of the “alarming human tragedy in Gaza”.
